Learning is Wild Scholarship
The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium believes every child should have the opportunity to discover and engage in the wonders of the natural world. We are excited to offer the Learning is Wild Scholarship to help teachers bring their students to the Zoo.
What can the funds be used for?
• Zoo Admission for School Groups - $2/person in Franklin County, $4/person outside of Franklin County
• Interactive Auditorium Programs – These field trip programs utilize SMART technology and live animals to explore topics addressing the Ohio Academic Content Standards. CLICK HERE for detailed program descriptions.
• Transportation Fees – Funds will help pay for bussing to and from the Zoo.
When can we come to the Zoo?
All field trips must be scheduled between the dates of November 1, 2010 and April 15, 2011.
Who qualifies for Learning is Wild Scholarship Funds?
• Public Schools – Central Ohio schools with a 30 percent or higher student population on the free or reduced lunch program.
• Private and Independent Schools – Central Ohio schools with 30 percent or more of the students on scholarship.
The Learning is Wild Scholarship will only fund up to 75 percent of your total field trip cost.
How to Apply
The application materials must be completed and mailed or faxed to the Columbus Zoo and Aquarium at least three weeks prior to your anticipated visit.
Scholarship opportunties are closed at this time but we hope to have future scholarship offerings for the 2011-2012 school year. Please check back.
Make sure your submission includes the following items:
1. Completed application form
2. Letter detailing the school’s need for funding
3. Statement detailing how a Columbus Zoo field trip will be incorporated into the classroom experience to educationally impact the participants.

You will receive notification of the status of your application within two weeks of submitting your request to the Learning is Wild Scholarship Program.
