Visitors won’t want to miss special appearances by Jungle Jack Hanna on Sept. 13 and 14 and Dora the Explorer on Sept. 20 and 21.  Celebrate with additional entertainment provided by The Hastily Assembled Blue Grass Band and many others.  

My House at Habitat Hollow invites the local community to join us in our recycling program!  We are collecting used cellular phones and plastic six-pack rings.  All collected items will be rebuilt, reused and/or recycled.  This is a perfect way for families, individuals, school groups and businesses to help us make the world a greener place!  Join us during Jack Hanna's Fall Fest, where each visitor who donates one cell phone or 12 six-pack rings will receive a small prize.

Cruise into the Zoo’s NEWEST event featuring your favorite classic cars parked throughout the Zoo.

 

 

Steven is a wildlife biologist with the U.S. Geological Survey at the Alaska Science Center, Anchorage. He has been studying polar bears since 1980. 

 

Dr. Amstrup is particularly interested in how science can help to reconcile the ever enlarging human footprint on our environment with the needs of other species. He led the team which prepared reports that became the basis for the May 14, 2008 decision to list polar bears as a Threatened Species under the Endangered Species Act.

 

In addition to Dr. Amstrup’s lecture, the evening includes:

• Update from Director Jeffrey Swanagan on plans for Polar Frontiers – a multi-species exhibit scheduled to open in 2009
• Representatives from the Byrd Polar Research Center at OSU who will answer your questions about global climate change
• Raffle of selected polar bear books, photographs, and giant plush polar bears

• Batman Begins – Live “Fighting Fear” Friday 7:20 p.m. Saturday and Sunday 5:20 and 7:20 p.m.   Batman Begins TM and all related characters and elements are Trademarks of and © of DC comics.Get current participants from Britany (if you have room)
• Special activities for children at Habitat Holloween.
• Special rides and attractions (for an additional cost up to $2 each) including the Creepy Hollow Express, SCAREousel and the Scarecrow Cruise. 
• The Endangered Species Graveyard – This exhibit represents just a small portion of the animals in danger of extinction.  The year on each tombstone reflects the year the animal was placed on the endangered list.
• Reptile Keeper Lab, Touch Pool, Diving Demonstrations, Wings of “Fright” shows and more!

Children are welcome to dress in costume.  However, only adults accompanied by a child or children under 13 years of age will be permitted to wear costumes on Zoo grounds.
