The shingles on the porch roof of My House, as well as the siding on both My House and My Barn, are constructed from reclaimed materials.

The Adirondack chairs, picnic table, some of the benches and the rain barrel at My House are all made from recycled plastic.

Inside the house the floors in the habitat rooms and the rug under the bed are made from recycled rubber tires, as is the play surface in the front yard.

The Columbus Zoo and Aquarium and its Habitat Hollow partners: the Solid Waste Authority of Central Ohio, the Ohio Division of Natural Resources Division of Recycling and Litter Prevention and Division of Wildlife (link to www.dnr.state.oh.us/wildlife/default.htm) have taken big steps in the effort to educate the public about conservation and recycling with the construction and opening of My House. (link to www.dnr.state.oh.us) (link to www.swaco.org)

Information on where recycled products can be purchased is available in the kitchen of My House.
